Information about insurance mediation and consumer credit services

The Financial Services and Markets Act 2000 requires us to advise you of our regulatory status prior to undertaking on your behalf any activities which may be regulated by it. WTT Legal Ltd. are not authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority (“FCA”) to conduct Investment Business. However, we are included on the register of Exempt Professional Firms maintained by the Financial Conduct Authority so that we can carry on certain limited investment services where these are complementary to, or arise out of, the professional services we are providing to you. In particular, we may refer you to a Permitted Third Party (an independent firm authorised by the FCA), assist you and the Permitted Third Party during the course of any advice given by that party and comment on, or explain, the advice received (but not make alternative recommendations). The Permitted Third Party will be remunerated separately for their services and will take full responsibility for compliance with the requirements of the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000 as amended by the Financial Services Act 2012. This part of our business, including arrangements for complaints or redress if something goes wrong, is regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority. The register can be accessed via the Financial Conduct Authority website here. We are not authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority in relation to consumer credit services. We may, however, provide certain limited consumer credit services where these are incidental to the professional services we provide. This part of our business, including arrangements for complaints or redress if something goes wrong, is regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority. The Law Society of England and Wales is a designated professional body for the purposes of the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000 but responsibility for regulation and complaints handling has been separated from the Law Society’s representative functions. The Solicitors Regulation Authority is the independent regulatory arm of the Law Society. The Legal Ombudsman deals with complaints against lawyers. If you are unhappy with any insurance advice or consumer credit service you receive from us, you should raise your concerns with either of these bodies.

We are committed to providing a high-quality legal service to all our clients. When something goes wrong, we need you to tell us about it. This will help us to improve our standards. We would always want our clients to raise any concerns a soon as practicable with the member of staff who is undertaking their work.

However, we accept that there may be occasions when the member of staff is unable to resolve your complaint or you may feel it is sufficiently serious that you want a more senior member of the firm to investigate this matter on your behalf. If you would like to make a formal complaint, then you can read our full complaints procedure here. Making a complaint will not affect how we handle your instructions.

We maintain professional indemnity insurance in accordance with the mandatory requirements of the Solicitors Regulation Authority.
